Halloween Bash at Tarantula Hill | Click for Details

We're thrilled to announce a major milestone for Tarantula Hill Brewing Co. - our expansion into San Diego County!

After five years of steady growth in Thousand Oaks, we've officially taken over operations at the former Draft Republic brewery in San Marcos, bringing our award-winning craft beers to North County San Diego.

What This Means for Our Brewery

Our San Marcos location now allows us to brew 5,500 barrels of fresh Tarantula Hill beer, significantly increasing our production capacity to meet the growing demand across Southern California. This expansion represents years of hard work and the incredible support from our local community.

The Perfect Fit

This partnership made perfect sense for us. Our Brewmaster Mike Richmond and Head Brewer Dante Tomei both worked together at Stone Brewing for nearly a decade, sharing an office as the Brewing Process Manager and Packaging Supervisor respectively.

"We know lots of industry folks down there, so we asked them for their opinions," says Richmond. "The money is right and the space is pretty turnkey, plus we're with Stone Distributing Co."

Meet Our San Marcos Team

We've brought on Tyler Potter, who comes to us after several years at Vista-based Pure Project Brewing, as our "top-notch, hot-shot brewer" to run the San Marcos facility.

What's Brewing

Potter will brew a rotating stock of collaboration beers, one-offs and specialty beers, while production of our mainstays such as flagship Liquid Candy Hazy IPA, Cali Day IPA and our namesake blonde ale will continue in Thousand Oaks.

Distribution Growth

Today, our distribution footprint spans from Santa Barbara County all the way to San Diego County, and this expansion ensures we can meet demand across this entire region.

From our hometown roots in Thousand Oaks to the craft beer mecca of San Diego County, Tarantula Hill Brewing continues to grow while staying true to our mission: brewery established by locals, for locals.
